Structural relaxation of glassy selenium under γ irradiation

چکیده
2014 The effect of 03B3-rays on the structural relaxation of glassy selenium near the glass transition has been studied by dilatometry. We show that under irradiation the evolution time scale shifts about one decade. J. Physique LETTRES 42 (1981) L-501-L-502 . Classification Physics Abstracts 61.40D 64.70E 61.80E 15 NOVEMBRE 1981,

Enhancement of structural rearrangement in glassy sys - tems under shear flow
– We extend the analysis of the mean field schematic model recently introduced [1] for the description of glass forming liquids to the case of a supercooled fluid subjected to a shear flow of rate γ. After quenching the system to a low temperature T , a slow glassy regime is observed before stationarity is achieved at the characteristic time τg. τg is of the order of the usual equilibration tim...
متن کاملAging of the secondary relaxation to probe structural relaxation in the glassy state.
The importance of glass formation and the glass transition is linked to their universality, embracing many classes of materials: metallic, inorganic, and organic. There is no agreement on what drives this phenomenon; moreover, experiments are challenging due to the nonequilibrium nature of the glassy state. We present a new approach that provides information about the very slow structural relax...
متن کاملFrequency Dependence of the Electrical Conductivity and Dielectric Constants of Polycarbonate (Makrofol-E) Film under the Effects of γ-Radiation
Irradiation effects of γ-radiation on the physical and electrical properties of polycarbonate (Makrofol-E) film has been studied to be able to investigate the dielectric response of irradiated polymers for a wide range of fluence and frequency. The dielectric constant (έ)The loss tangent ( tanδ ), dielectric loss factor (ε ̋), the a.c electrical conductivity (σ) and the relaxation time (τ), were...
متن کاملSimple nonlinear equation for structural relaxation in glasses.
A wide range of glassy and disordered materials exhibit complex, nonexponential, structural relaxation (aging). We propose a simple nonlinear rate equation δ = a[1-exp(b δ)], where δ is the normalized deviation of a macroscopic variable from its equilibrium value, to describe glassy relaxation. Analysis of extensive experimental data shows that this equation quantitatively captures structural r...
